February Update: Share the Love 🍿
February brings one of Kinema’s biggest iOS updates yet, and it’s a good one.
We’re also setting a new rhythm going forward. Kinema on iOS (via TestFlight) will now be getting monthly updates, which means more improvements, more polish, and fewer “wait, when did this change?” moments.
The big headline: Share Links
You can now share a recommendation with literally anyone. Friends, family, group chats, that one person who always asks what to watch next.
Even better, they don’t need to have Kinema installed. Just grab a share link from the Recommend page and send it off. Simple, fast, and finally friction-free.

Cast exploration made easy
Can’t remember what that other film with Ryan Gosling was?
Now you can hold down on any cast member from the Details page and instantly see all the films they’ve been in!

A small UI glow-up
We also gave the Save icon a refresh. The goal was familiarity. If it feels like something you’ve already used in other social apps, that’s intentional. Nobody wants to stop and decode icons when they’re just trying to save a great film.

Behind-the-scenes fixes and polish
Alongside the headline features, we’ve been tightening things up across the app:
- The CAST heading on the Details page now hides itself when no cast information is available
- Fixed an issue where blank users could be selected on the Watch screen
- Resolved a bug where some trailers refused to open in the browser
- Social links on the About page now open correctly in iOS
- You can now add a connection directly from the Recommend pop-up
- Updated the Add to Watchlist icon
- Fixed an issue where some searches, like The Godfather, returned blank results (criminal, we know)
- Keyboard suggestions are now enabled when searching for films
That’s it for February. More updates are already on the way, and we’re just getting started.
As always, thanks for testing, sharing, and telling us what to build next 🎬
